1 billion rides?!?! That’s a lot of rides. At exactly 7:48:34 pm Moscow time on September 28, 2018, Yandex.Taxi, the Ride Share initiative from Yandex delivered its 1 billionth ride.
Yandex.Taxi gave its first ride on October 26th, 2011 and the past 7 years have seen tremendous growth. If you’ve been to Moscow, you know that Yandex.Taxi is omnipresent in the Moscow landscape. From the time you fly into DME or SVO, Yandex.Taxi is visible and ready to take you wherever needed.
For non-Russian speaking visitors to Moscow, the trip can be intimidating. Only between 5-10% of Russians speak English, and the Russian language operates on the Cyrillic alphabet, so it’s nearly impossible for non-Russian speakers to even pretend to know what they’re talking about. Yandex has recognized the challenges, and have improved communication between riders and drivers by incorporating their chat feature by integrating Yandex.Translate to reduce language barriers – very cool and helpful!
My personal favorite feature of Yandex.Taxi is the ‘Kids’ feature. The ‘Kids’ feature provides booster seats for parents traveling with children!
Yandex is committed to growth with Yandex.Taxi, and plan to move into additional markets. The growth for Yandex.Taxi has been impressive, and it doesn’t appear to be slowing any time soon.
