Yandex.Market & Russian Post Team up to Improve Russian eCommerce Logistics

Yandex.Market, Russia’s leading eCommerce platform serving over 20 million monthly shoppers from over 20 thousand domestic and international e-reatilers, recently teamed up with the Russian Post to help online retailers better organize shipments to Russian online shoppers.  Now the store can plan shipments and transfer them to a shopper in one day by using “Optimal EMS.” The service is offered to the Moscow stores that accept payment for goods on Yandex.Market.

Typically shipment times in Russia range anywhere from a day to 10 days but this new partnership will ensure one day shipping and reduce paperwork and wait time. Assuming the order is placed and the store provides the post office with the item by 20:00, shoppers can pick up their package on the next business day with proof of purchase at a distribution center. In Russia, cash-on-delivery and picking up orders at distribution centers and kiosks is a common practice for eCommerce transactions.

Free shipments is also a common practice used for Russian eCommerce and this new partnership is no exception. Shoppers can pick up their purchases at the Russian Post distribution center free of charge and without a wait. Rather than going to the post office where there may be more lines, the distribution center offers a much speedier process for shoppers. Shoppers can select the option on Yandex.Market and then track their parcel on the Russian Post website.

The new Yandex.Market shipping option started at the end of March and is being offered at 87 distribution centers in Moscow. In the next phase of this partnership, all 523 distribution centers across 210 Russian cities will offer this service.
