Historically travel agents have been very popular for booking travel in Russia but the market has seen a major shift thanks to a number of new online options for booking travel in a more convenient and cost-effective way.  eMarketer compiled the top 10 travel sites in Russia ranked by their average monthly traffic. Russia’s top travel sites include both foreign and domestic sites. The top foreign travel sites in Russia include Booking.com and Trip Advisor. The top domestic site in Russia is Tutu.ru.

Tutu.ru is the number one travel site in Russia. Tutu.ru includes flight, train, and bus tickets. They also sell hotel and tour packages. Tutu was founded in 2003, and originally was a site you could use to see the timetables for trains. In 2005 the site expanded its train timetable to include long distance trains. In 2006 the site began to sell railway tickets, and the following year flight tickets. In 2009 the site expanded to include hotels. Most recently, in 2014 the site began to sell package tours. According to eMarketer, Tutu.ru has a monthly average of 17.9 million visits. Tutu.ru has a mobile app for iPhones and Androids. It also has a page on Vkontakte, Facebook, Odnoklassniki, and Instagram.

Booking.com comes in second place as one of the top travel sites in Russia, with an average of 17.7 million visits per month. Similar to Tutu, Booking also sells air and train tickets, as well as hotel packages. Other services Booking.com provides are car rentals, airport taxi services, and restaurant reservations. Booking.com was established in 1996 in Amsterdam, and today has 198 offices in 70 countries. Including its offices in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Sochi.

TripAdvisor.ru comes in third place as one of the top travel sites in Russia. TripAdvisor.ru has 9.3 million visits on average per month. Its services include hotel and flight booking, as well as restaurant reservations. Users are also able to review entertainment, hotels, and restaurants on the sights to help give travelers an idea of fun things to do when they visit. Trip Advisor has a mobile app for iphones and androids. It also has a page on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Trip Advisor was founded in 2000, and operates over 29 international sites.

Aviasales.ru comes in fourth place with an average of 7.8 million visits a month. Aviasales is a Russian based site that helps users find the cheapest flights, hotels, travel insurance, and car rentals. The site looks for air tickets in 728 airlines, 200 booking offices, and 5 booking systems. The site was launched in 2008, and originally only showed data and special offers that were from other sites and airline mailings. Aviasales has a page on Vkontakte, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Aviasales also offers a mobile app for iPhones and Androids.

Blablacar.ru, a long distance ridesharing community, comes in fifth place with an average of 6.3 million visits a month. BlaBlacar was founded in France in 2006, and later expanded throughout Europe. BlaBlacar has a page on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

TopHotels.ru comes in sixth place with an average of 5.3 million visits a month. The site helps users find hotels both in and out of Russia. Users can also review hotels they’ve stayed in on the site.

Closing out the list, SkyScanner comes in 7th place with 5 million visits on average per month. Sky Scanner was founded in 2003, and helps users find cheap flights, hotels, and car rentals. Sky Scanner also has a popular mobile app. Aeroflot, the major Russian airline, comes in 8th place with an average of 4.9 million visits a month, followed by Tonkosti.ru with 3.1 million visits. And finally, S7.ru is in 10th place with 2.7 an average of million visits a month.
